This is Paratutae Island in the distance where you can see the site of the Signalman’s House on the top. Captain Wing operated the signals on Paratutae Island for ships entering the Manukau Harbour in the 1850s and 1860s.   Select the photo below to see the lighthouse up closer. Can you see how the wind is billowing out Pete's jacket (no he hadn't put on that much weight!) At this point we are trying to figure out how we would get across to the island without taking our joggers off.
